What are mortgages in Spain?
|
Mortgages in Spain
are usually obtained from a Bank. There are now some familiar lenders in Spain such as Barclays Bank and Halifax Bank. However most mortgages are obtained through established Spanish banks.
Lending can be up to 80% of the official value of the property and the term can be up to the borrower's 70th birthday.
Most loans are offered on a capital and interest repayment basis but it is also possible to have interest only, subject to status.
There are also some types of mortgage that allow you to release some of the equity tied up in your property. Please see ‘What is an Equity Release Scheme’ for more information.
